In the interest of full disclosure, I was provided a complimentary meal by the Zest team.

If you’ve not ventured into Green Park, you may have missed a fabulous restaurant which resides in Lime Square. Given its location so close to the motorway, it’s perfect for client entertaining or simply for those days when you want to sneak in an epic lunch or a delicious dinner without having to trek all the way into town.

During the Independent Reading visit, we were lucky enough to catch up with Head Chef, Przemek. Here’s what he had to say:

What’s the best thing about working for an independent restaurant?

“The relationship I have with the owners; we collaborate and I have the freedom to experiment with the dishes. We change our set menu every couple of weeks due to seasonality of the produce.”

What would you recommend from the current menu?

“I’d recommend all of it but my favourite dishes are:

Potato rosti, sautéed duck, wild mushrooms, kale, fried free range egg

Mie goring – spicy stir fried egg noodles, runner beans, tofu, shitake mushroom, poached egg

Raspberry and mascarpone crème brulee”

What else is important to you when creating the menus?

“I have been working here for 10 years, having started as a sous chef and in that time we’ve always tried to support local producers rather than importing from abroad. Local ingredients are fresher and you can build relationships with the people who provide them.”
