Hello again, I bring more festively themed words to you today! Last week we had the gift guide, this week we have something wonderful to do with the family this Christmas.

The Twilight Trail will take place at Forbury Gardens from 8th December 2020 until 3rd January 2021, 4pm-10pm and promises a magical festive trail full of sparkles and illuminations, leading you through Reading’s iconic Forbury Gardens and Abbey Ruins.

Wander through a magical backdrop of illuminated trees, create your own light shows with interactive displays and watch the Abbey Ruins come alive with sound and light. Plus you can Zoom with Santa, enjoy festive food and drink and appreciate the town’s theatrical talent as part of this exciting new event.

Limited tickets are available, with pre-bookable time slots in order that social distancing can be managed and there’s a dedicated day to welcome a neuro-diverse audience. On Monday 21st December the lighting will be dimmed, volume reduced and visitor numbers restricted to make the experience as sensory-friendly as possible. A wheelchair accessible route and water bowls for service dogs will be available across all dates.

Food and Drink

WePop, the team behind Reading’s Après Ski pop-up and Oktoberfest, will be running a festive chalet bar alongside local food stalls from Paul Holmes Catering selling churros and sausages.

Theatre

Theatre group, Rabble, are creating a special piece based on their internationally acclaimed Henry I trilogy, while Reading Rep will be recording a new version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas to accompany the Forbury Hill Flames installation.
