Good afternoon fellow independent business supporters!

Firstly, what a fantastic job the Reading community has been doing supporting our local indies during these challenging times. Many of them have had to significantly adapt their businesses to suit the current environment and your support has been invaluable in making that happen.

We’re nearly two weeks into lock down and this is where it can be difficult to keep up the good work, so are a few reminders of how you can help.

Support on Social Media

Money is tight for many people right now but you can show your support for local businesses by continuing to interact with and share their social media content.

If you fancy trying something new, Clay’s (Hyderabadi Kitchen) are rocking it over on Instagram, with fabulous recipes you can create in the comfort of your own home. Find them @clayshyderabadi.

Stock Up On Essentials

We all have to eat and going to the busy supermarket is not the only way that we can fill our homes with delicious, nourishing food.

The owners of Geo Cafe over in Caversham have started selling veg boxes and are getting some fantastic reviews! You can add some of their bread as well as local honey, cheese and eggs to your order. Check out what they’re offering here: https://rgbread.com/product/vegetable-local-produce-bundles/ .

Across the other side of town, Fidget & Bob on Kennet Island have also expanded their offering. You can collect from them or they deliver to those on the Island. You’ll find everything from their noodle pots to fruit and veg, The Jam Lady jam, eggs, crisps and beer!

If you’re going that way anyway, you may as well pick up a Breakfast O’Muffin and some hash browns too. Just check out this Fidget & Bob creation:

Need some meat to accompany your veggies? Maybe for the BBQ this weekend? Check out the meat packs being offered by Jennings of Caversham. Usually a supplier to the trade, they’re set up and ready to keep you fed during the pandemic. Delivery slots are more readily available than with many places as their standard operating model involves deliveries. Check out their offering here: https://www.jenningsofcaversham.co.uk/#meat-packs.

Have Some Fun

Deadlocked Escape Rooms have released an escape-at-home game called The Insiders. If you’ve played their escape rooms before, you’ll know this is going to be good. The game only costs £9.99 and they’ll even let you redeem that cost against their real-life rooms once lock down is over. What more incentive could you possibly need? Check out the game here.

There are many more local businesses still trading who need your support and a lot of these offer gift vouchers, so you can help them keep the bills paid right now and treat yourself later, when we’re out of lock down.

Thank you all so much for everything you are doing to support our local businesses and each other. You are rocking it!
