What a joy it has been to see so many of our local indies able to re-open after the tough months at the beginning of this year. Taking this re-opening to another level is long-standing independent, Jacobs the Jewellers who have undertaken a refurb during the down-time and are now back looking better than ever.
Jacobs the Jewellers re-opened on Monday 12th April, having completed the largest single set of shop enhancements in its history. A full refurbishment was carried out during the early 2021 lockdown and the results have received a very warm welcome from clients.
If you’ve not stepped back and looked at the stunning building Jacobs the Jewellers is located in, I highly recommend you do so. In keeping with such an elegant building, Jacobs’ exterior changes include a new sign and uplighters showcasing the fabulous King Street architecture, along with new brickwork. A new security entry system making it even clearer and easier for clients completes the external improvements.
Inside has also had a makeover, with two staircases upgraded to sleek, modern glass while a brand new ‘study’ style shop display showcases products, archive books, awards and jewellery industry paraphernalia with a ‘lounge exhibition’ feel. A new gold theme runs throughout the shop featuring on client desks, display cabinets and interior fittings. This all ties in with the exterior and a new internal decorating theme and carpeting.
I’m delighted with the end result and it’s given the team a real boost to return to work in such a beautiful environment. The feedback we’ve had from clients has been fabulous. The shop reinforces our commitment to Reading town centre and the community we’ve served for almost 75 years.Adam Jacobs, Partner
