Hello again, friends! I recently caught up with the rather lovely Céline from Cocolico Patisserie; she specialises in plant-based French Patisserie, so please read on to learn more.
Céline arrived in the UK in 2016, following a prestigious career as a pastry chef in Paris, the city that she previously called home. Céline has worked everywhere from a Michelin starred restaurant to an organic vegetarian restaurant in Paris and has amassed a wealth of expertise across her career to date.
Prior to running Cocolico, Céline has worked at fellow fabulous indie Nibsy’s and Reading’s London Street Brasserie.
The journey to producing plant-based food began when Céline realised she was lactose intolerant and struggled to find foods that she enjoyed which were intolerance-friendly.
What’s On Offer?
Céline offers a variety of sweet and savoury plant-based bakes, with her afternoon tea offering one of her specialities. The afternoon tea is a very reasonable £20 for 1 person or £35 for 2 people.
Céline’s personal favourites are her tarts, which she considers her signature dish. Just check out the pictures on the Cocolico social media feeds and you’ll soon be craving one of these.
As well as the afternoon tea and bakes you’ll find at the markets, Céline also offers a bespoke service to both individuals and corporations. If there’s something in particular you’re after, the best thing to do is get in touch and have a chat about it but she offers everything from celebration cakes to suit your taste and budget to catering for larger groups / events.
You might be thinking that because you aren’t vegan, this isn’t for you but Céline has found that most of her customers aren’t vegan. As non-vegan myself, I can assure you that you really don’t need to be vegan to enjoy Céline’s food.
Where To Buy
You can buy Cocolico products at Reading Farmers’ Market. (The next one is tomorrow!) You can also order directly from Céline, details here. Local deliveries are available.
When appropriate given current circumstances, you can also find Céline at RISC on Tuesdays and running afternoon tea once per month.
*Please note that Céline provided IR with some free samples of her food.
