Independent Reading has been fortunate enough to meet the fabulous Georgina, who is the incredibly friendly and outgoing lady behind Georgina’s Vintage Couture in the Harris Arcade.
Georgina’s Vintage Couture stocks a range of vintage and new vintage clothing for men and women, accessories and homewares.
We caught up to understand a bit more about her, the business and why you should pay her a visit. Here’s what we found out:
How did you develop your interest in vintage fashion?
“When I was younger, my parents used to take me to lots of National Trust properties and I just adored the costumes. I fell in love with the lace, the pearls, the embellishments. They’re so much more dramatic and elegant than today’s clothes.”
What prompted you to take the leap into opening your own shop?
“I actually started out in 2010, selling vintage clothes in the Oakford on Saturdays and then I moved on to the Purple Turtle, before starting Reading Vintage Fair. I managed to save some money and then a couple of months ago, I opened the shop.”
What’s your favourite piece in the shop right now?
“There’s a gorgeous blue sequinned cocktail dress, with spaghetti straps that I just love.”
